How to Shop Bulk
Shopping in bulk is easy! We provide customers with the necessary bags, containers and twist ties but we love it when you bring in your own (Just bring it up to one of our cashiers before you fill it so they can mark the weight). Fill your bag or container with as much or as little product as you need, then mark on a twist tie the PLU number located on the bin label. Continue your shopping.
The Bulk Herbs department is in the Wellness area and stocks over 200 herbs, spices and teas. We feature culinary herbs and spices, as well as, herbs that are traditionally used for medicinal purposes.
Our priorities when selecting the bulk herbs we offer include quality and flavor, lack of fumigation and irradiation, price, and raw materials sourcing. The majority of bulk herbs, spices and teas are purchased through Frontier Co-op, a natural products distributor located in Norway, Iowa.
Buying herbs, spices and teas from our bulk jars is a great way to save money and packaging. Bring empty spice jars or other containers and prepare to be shocked, not only by the savings – which is considerable – but also by how fresh our products taste and smell. Be sure to have your container weighed at a register on your way into the store so that you won’t be charged for any weight of the container.
Bulk shopping allows you to purchase as much or little as you want. When a recipe calls for just a pinch of an unusual spice, or if you want to compare several varieties of tea or try out a new culinary herb or spice, bulk is the best option. Buy a just a bit of a new spice for a dinner recipe or fill jars with everyday staples.
How To Shop In Bulk Herbs:
If you bring an empty container, have your container weighed at a register on your way into the store. The container weight will be subtracted when you check out. You pay only for the product, not the weight of your jar.
Write the PLU number, which can be found on the price label on the right side of the jars, on our handy twist ties and put it on your jar or one of the plastic bags we provide. We also provide paper bags. The amount of product, in pounds, will be shown on your receipt, as well as, the name of your chosen item. It’s also a good idea to write the name of your product on the twist tie or container, as many folks forget which one is which after a little time has passed.
