THE HOT BAR IS RE-OPENING!!! THE HOT BAR IS RE-OPENING!!!  Normally, when our staff chooses an Item of the Week, we pick something specificl; a fruit that is wonderful, or a grocery item that is tasty. But this week, we all agreed that the re-opening of the Hot Bar deserved to be our Item of the Week.

Since the Deli closed for remodeling, I have lost approximately 5 pounds. I failed to realize just how much of the food my family and I ate was made by the Deli. I would call my wife, Kim, from the Co-op every evening around 4:45pm and ask, “What do you want for dinner?” She would almost always answer, “Check the Grab & Go for something wonderful.” And I would always find something wonderful in the Grab & Go.

I ate lunch at the Co-op five days a week. While the Hot Bar was always good, I did have my favorites: Dustin’s Veggie Quesadillas, AK’s Gruyere Mac n Cheese, Fresh Spinach Salads, and Jerry-Quesadillas (my personal sandwich creation). I have missed the Hot Bar SOOOOOO MUCH! When I was informed that it would re-open with À la Carte on time this Thursday, I wept.

The Deli may be no more, but À La Carte now feeds me and my family. I know I cannot wait, and visions of Chicken Tikka Masala now dance through my head. I’ll be standing at the Hot Bar at 11:00am on Thursday, February 14^th, with fork and napkin in hand (to find out what they’ll be serving, check out the new Hot Bar menu here). Where will you be for lunch that day? I invite you to come have some wonderful food with me. Just don’t try to get in front of me as I may knock you down to get at the Hot Bar…I have been without for too long.
