At the check-out lanes we are frequently asked how a person applies to work at the Co-op. We thought it would be a good idea to share the process. There is a simple application available at the Owner Service Desk. You can pick this up and fill it out at your convenience. To turn in your application, you’ll want to attend our open “get to know you” interviews with our Human Resources Manager, Jerry Huddleston. These interviews run from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. every Thursday. They are first-come, first-serve so it pays to arrive a little early and get your name towards the top of the sign up sheet.
After the “get to know you” interview, your application will be shared with the department managers that Jerry feels fit your skill set the best. At that point, if there is an open position in the department, you will be called in for a second interview with a department manager.
Just as at any place of employment, there are a few things you can do to get a leg up on the hiring process. Ozark Natural Foods is always looking for people who have a genuine interest in health food. Owners and regular shoppers are ideal applicants, because they are already living a healthy lifestyle and truly care about organic foods. Sharing this passion for healthy living during your interview is a big help.
Another big plus is showing flexibility in the hours you can work. If a person is interested in full-time work and has open availability including evenings and weekends, it will be easier for department managers to fit you in to their existing schedules.
If you are passionate about health food and healthy living, and you’re interested in working at the Co-op, fill out an application and come in for a “get to know you” interview. If there’s not a position available when you come in, your application will be held for a full 90 days.
So what’s it like to work at Ozark Natural Foods? We have a fun, dynamic work atmosphere. We do work hard but we have fun while we do it! Each department is different and there’s room to grow and try out different positions. We all have our favorite positions. For me I love working in the front end. It’s a social atmosphere and the days always fly by with so much activity going on.
